Religious trauma, church hurt, & spiritual abuse

Healing the wounds that shape the way you relate to yourself, others, and the sacred.

Some experiences leave us questioning who we are, what we believe, and whether it is safe to trust. They affect our sense of belonging, identity, trust, and relationship with the sacred. Whether your wounds stem from religious communities, harmful theology, purity culture, or faith deconstruction, therapy can offer a place to slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with yourself - mind, body, and spirit. Through an embodied, relational approach, we'll explore not only your story, but how it lives in your sense of self, relationships, body, and spiritual life. Together, we'll explore the impact of spiritual wounds and create space for healing, integration, and renewed connection.

Therapy for Women

I help women listen to the stories their bodies are telling, so that they can hold the pen.

Perhaps there is more to your body than how it looks…

Perhaps her desires are pointing you toward meaning and calling,

her aches are the groans of where and how you’ve been harmed,

Perhaps her size and strength are invitations to take up space in your life,

her voice and ideas are the billowing overflow of your internal world.

Perhaps her anger is a protest to broken systems and relationships, the unprocessed grief of a life of silencing.

Perhaps her tears are the testament to all that is broken and dying in this world, her fears a compass to what is out of order.

Perhaps her energy is vitality pulsating you into a life of flourishing and creativity, her dance an invitation back into your body down to the soles of your feet.

Perhaps your body was meant for you to inhabit it, to be at home within it, to feel beautiful inside and out.

Perhaps you were meant to walk with strength and dignity as a unique form and force for good in the world.

Why choose self-pay over insurance?

It’s an important question. Your money is valuable, now more than ever. So why choose self-pay?

  1. Choice. You get to choose the counselor you want and who is the right fit for you, without insurance companies telling you who you can and can’t see. You and your counselor collaborate to choose how many sessions you need. Also, often times quality counselors have wait lists and are sought after, and therefore don’t need to take insurance to fill their case loads.

  2. Confidentiality. In order to use your insurance, clinicians must provide a diagnosis that goes on your permanent medical record and have no control over who has access to that information once it’s provided. Insurance companies can also access session notes, types of treatment, diagnosis, etc. which is very personal information.

  3. Couples. Couples counseling does not have a medical diagnostic code that be reimbursed, regardless of what type of insurance you have.

All this said, my vow to you is to always use your session time well. I am intentional in how sessions begin so that not a moment is wasted and I plan ahead before your session. As an experiential therapist, I am trained and skilled to make each moment count. I do not take your time or money for granted. It means the world to me that you choose to journey with me. If finances are an issue, please do not hesitate to inquire about the sliding scale option - available for in-person clients only.
